NMCC Early Childhood Education Program

Early Childhood Education

Prepare for a meaningful career supporting children and families through hands-on learning, field experiences and professional training in early childhood education.

Build the skills to support children and families

The Early Childhood Education program is designed to educate childcare professionals in the skills and knowledge necessary for advanced positions in organizations and agencies that serve children.

Whether students select the associate degree or certificate option, they participate in coursework and field experiences that prepare them for entry-level employment in child care and early education settings.

The program combines classroom learning with practical experience to help students develop the communication, leadership and child development skills needed in today’s early childhood workforce.

Transfer opportunities and continued education

Many students who complete the associate degree program continue their education at four-year institutions in fields related to education, child development and human services.

The program builds a strong academic and professional foundation for students interested in advancing into leadership, teaching or specialized child development roles.

Core courses also align with the educational requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
