"Gas for Class" Fund

Born of an idea that challenges traditional approaches to addressing barriers to collegiate student’s persistence, “Gas for Class” links a short-term reward with a behavior known to correlate directly with student success – class attendance.

The “Gas for Class” Fund supports a college-wide initiative that rewards a gas card to randomly selected students who attended 100% of their classes in the prior week. NMCC staff or faculty members will reinforced the importance and benefits of class attendance.

Your support of this fund will allow more students to receive this reward and address a significant barrier to class attendance for our students transportation costs.

Students who have participated in an on-going demonstration project have shown dramatic improvements in grade point averages, class attendance and persistence in their educational pursuit.
