Adjunct Instructors Needed

Adjunct Faculty Needed:
NMCC is seeking highly qualified candidates to expand its pool of adjunct faculty to augment our dedicated full-time faculty and respond to enrollment demands at both our main campus in Presque Isle and Houlton. Successful post-secondary teaching experience a plus.  These are non-benefited positions with teaching assignments on a course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis:

Maine EMS Instructor Coordinator license and current Maine EMS Paramedic license required. Out-of-hospital emergency field experience required. National registry Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) or Critical Care Emergency Medical Technician -Paramedic (CCEMT-P) certification preferred. HVAC Technician

POSITION TITLE:         HVAC Technician

 

BARGAINING UNIT:    MSEA Support Services, Range 18

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree in Electrical/Refrigeration with up to 4 years of experience. Must have valid State of Maine Driver’s License. Required to have Journey Electrical license, Solid Fuel Operator License, refrigeration Certificate, OSHA 30 Hr Certificate, Maine State Drivers’ License

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

The primary functions of this position are to perform skilled electrical work and master’s level work installing, operating, troubleshooting and repairing light/ heavy gas or fuel fired boilers and/or hydronics heating, furnaces, ventilating/air conditioning equipment typically found in campus facilities. Maintains, repairs and troubleshoots the biomass boiler system. Preforms a variety of installations, maintenance and repairs of heating systems and fixtures as well as maintaining commercial kitchen equipment.

This position will oversee the work of others including employees, contract workers and/or work study students.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Related HVAC, Electrical, Refrigeration and plumbing experience. This position will require frequent walking, standing, and sitting.

Business Industry Coordinator

BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE:       MEA Administrators Unit, Level III

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position is responsible for the coordination and management of all aspects of customized contract training for the College.  This is a complex, highly responsible position that involves assisting in the design and coordination of training and educational opportunities for business and industry in Aroostook County.  The position will assist in developing and maintaining working relationships with area businesses, conducting marketing through outreach to the business and industry community, managing training program budgets, developing training proposals, scheduling training programs, maintaining statistical and financial information for reporting, completing student registrations, and managing record keeping systems for training activities.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s Degree in business or education preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  This position requires experience in and understanding of training needs of business and industry as well as extensive knowledge of and/or experience in economic development.  Should demonstrate a knowledge of Maine’s current economic issues and human resource development issues, especially in an industry setting.  The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, management skills, financial management expertise, curriculum development expertise, knowledge of evaluation techniques, and experience with specialized computer programs.

College Safety & Security Officer

 

TITLE:              College Safety and Security Officer

                       

BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE:             MSEA Support Services Unit, Range 12

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:     Under general supervision, is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus.  Patrols buildings and grounds to assure safe and secure campus; monitors security systems for campus mechanical/heating systems and surveillance cameras; writes incident reports; enforces college policies, rules and regulations and warns violators of rule infractions; reports and responds to fire, medical and criminal emergency situations; enforces campus parking regulations; and provides customer service to visitors.  Responsible for shoveling, plowing and sanding during inclement weather.  Works night and weekend shift.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in criminal justice or security, two years’ related experience, and valid State of Maine driver’s license. Must be able to provide COVID-19 vaccination documentation as a condition of employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Experience in the basics of the principles of safety and security in a college setting, ability to work with diverse groups, experience handling irate person situations, computer literate, ability to work shifts including nights and weekends, and ability to operate plowing and sanding vehicles and equipment.  Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is essential.

Simulation Nurse Educator & Coordinator

TITLE OF POSITION:        Simulation Nurse Educator & Coordinator

BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE:       MEA Administrators Unit, Level

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Has the overall responsibility for overseeing and directs the operation of the simulation center used by the Nursing Program (RN &PN), EMS Program and any/all programs in the Allied Health Department.  Duties include working collaboratively with any academic program within the college that may identify the need to utilize simulation in their curriculum and community users to enhance their learning experience.  The coordinator will be responsible for operational and administrative aspects of the simulation center while working collaboratively with faculty, content experts and other colleagues to develop, implement and evaluate simulation curriculum of innovative educational courses, which integrate simulation techniques and applications available within the simulation center. The educator/coordinator will supervise the Simulation Operations Specialist who is responsible for maintaining all simulation equipment and supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  MSN in Nursing and 4-7 years related field experience using simulation and scenario-based education is preferred. Must at least have BSN with the goal of getting MSN within 2 years of hire due to accreditation requirements. Professional license must include RN. A combination of clinical nurse educator experience and advanced certifications may be substituted for simulation experience. Additional license/certifications preferred including: EMT/Paramedic, CCT, NRP, BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NP or MD. Must be able to provide COVID-19 vaccination documentation as a condition of employment.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Recent experience working with simulation in an educational institution (preferably at the college level) or an equivalent setting such as clinical nurse educator in a healthcare setting; excellent working knowledge of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within the area of curriculum utilizing the simulation center (Nursing, EMS, Medical Assisting); knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements; ability to assess educational needs while designing/implementing and evaluating simulation curriculum; comprehensive working knowledge of simulation education standards and clinical standards associated with various healthcare educational programs (MSBON, ACEN, CoAEMSP, NCSBN); experience with use of high fidelity mannequins used in simulation; comfortable working knowledge of computer, audio and video technology; experience in the development and implementation of simulation scenarios; experience as a healthcare provider assessing, treating and managing patients in a clinical setting; experience as a clinical supervisor/nurse manager with duties that include delegation of appropriate responsibilities; excellent teamwork skills with ability to communicate effectively with academic and technical colleagues, vendors and students at all levels; comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology; and high level of comfort with moulage.
