Adjunct Instructors Needed

Adjunct Faculty Needed:
NMCC is seeking highly qualified candidates to expand its pool of adjunct faculty to augment our dedicated full-time faculty and respond to enrollment demands at both our main campus in Presque Isle and Houlton. Successful post-secondary teaching experience a plus.  These are non-benefited positions with teaching assignments on a course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis:

Business & Accounting Instructors-
A Master’s degree in the discipline is preferred.

EMS Instructors-
Maine EMS Instructor Coordinator license and current Maine EMS Paramedic license required. Out-of-hospital emergency field experience required. National registry Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) or Critical Care Emergency Medical Technician -Paramedic (CCEMT-P) certification preferred. Associate degree or matriculation in an associate program preferred.

BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE:       MEA Administrators Unit, Level 3

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with all, and is directly responsible for, multiple aspects of the admissions and recruitment process. Develops and oversees the recruitment plan; hiring, training and coordinating student workers to give tours; phone and text outreach to prospective students; and coordinates open house workers. Analyzes and evaluates transfer credits, works with department chairs and advises transfer students. Speaks publicly to groups and individuals, develops and maintains close working relationships with key secondary school/tech center constituents, adult education centers, and business and industry.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree preferred with experience in admissions and/or sales.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentational communication skills; at least 3 years of experience in post-secondary admissions, advising, college recruiting, or transfer/career counseling; knowledge of student development, curriculum planning, and understanding the needs of both non-traditional and traditional-aged college students.

HVAC Technician

POSITION TITLE:         HVAC Technician

 

BARGAINING UNIT:    MSEA Support Services, Range 18

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree in Electrical/Refrigeration with up to 4 years of experience. Must have valid State of Maine Driver’s License. Required to have Journey Electrical license, Solid Fuel Operator License, refrigeration Certificate, OSHA 30 Hr Certificate, Maine State Drivers’ License

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

The primary functions of this position are to perform skilled electrical work and master’s level work installing, operating, troubleshooting and repairing light/ heavy gas or fuel fired boilers and/or hydronics heating, furnaces, ventilating/air conditioning equipment typically found in campus facilities. Maintains, repairs and troubleshoots the biomass boiler system. Preforms a variety of installations, maintenance and repairs of heating systems and fixtures as well as maintaining commercial kitchen equipment.

This position will oversee the work of others including employees, contract workers and/or work study students.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Related HVAC, Electrical, Refrigeration and plumbing experience. This position will require frequent walking, standing, and sitting.

College Safety & Security Officer

 

TITLE:              College Safety and Security Officer

                       

BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE:             MSEA Support Services Unit, Range 12

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:     Under general supervision, is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus.  Patrols buildings and grounds to assure safe and secure campus; monitors security systems for campus mechanical/heating systems and surveillance cameras; writes incident reports; enforces college policies, rules and regulations and warns violators of rule infractions; reports and responds to fire, medical and criminal emergency situations; enforces campus parking regulations; and provides customer service to visitors.  Responsible for shoveling, plowing and sanding during inclement weather.  Works night and weekend shift.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in criminal justice or security, two years’ related experience, and valid State of Maine driver’s license. Must be able to provide COVID-19 vaccination documentation as a condition of employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Experience in the basics of the principles of safety and security in a college setting, ability to work with diverse groups, experience handling irate person situations, computer literate, ability to work shifts including nights and weekends, and ability to operate plowing and sanding vehicles and equipment.  Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is essential.

Practical Nursing Faculty - Full Time

POSITION TITLE:         Practical Nursing Faculty – Full Time

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:     NMCC has an immediate need for an instructor for the practical nursing program, which follows an accelerated schedule.  This position includes simulation instruction, skills lab instruction, clinical supervision/instruction and didactic instruction in the classroom.  Other faculty responsibilities will include student advising, curriculum development, committee work and participation in all program and institutional assessment activities.   This faculty will work closely with the adjunct instructors with clinical placement and clinical instruction.  Faculty ensure that course objectives are met through provisions of assigned clinical experiences and instruction while maintaining program outcomes at an appropriate workplace skill level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:      

–     BSN required

–     Current Maine RN license

–     Post-secondary teaching experience preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related degree with 4 years of experience working with application/database development and systems design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

This position functions with extremely limited supervision and requires a high level of technical expertise and broad knowledge of programming languages. Responsibilities include designing, developing and maintaining computer application programs in a community college system environment. Will require ongoing development of technical knowledge and skills in emerging programming languages for application and analysis. This position is responsible for translating broad requirements or requested functions provided into a detailed written system designs for review, testing, implementation and training. Must maintain the security and integrity of the information stored in systems and databases used by the College.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

 

Must have knowledge of Structured Query Language, database security, confidentiality principles and best practices. This position requires communication skills along with critical thinking and is expected to analyze and recommend changes to business processes and practices as appropriate. Must have the ability to understand and design complex database applications/systems and manage multiple projects and priorities.
