Adjunct Instructors Needed

Adjunct Faculty Needed:
NMCC is seeking highly qualified candidates to expand its pool of adjunct faculty to augment our dedicated full-time faculty and respond to enrollment demands at both our main campus in Presque Isle and Houlton. Successful post-secondary teaching experience a plus.  These are non-benefited positions with teaching assignments on a course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis:

Business & Accounting Instructors-
A Master’s degree in the discipline is preferred.

EMS Instructors-
Maine EMS Instructor Coordinator license and current Maine EMS Paramedic license required. Out-of-hospital emergency field experience required. National registry Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) or Critical Care Emergency Medical Technician -Paramedic (CCEMT-P) certification preferred. Associate degree or matriculation in an associate program preferred.

TITLE:                          ASSISTANT DEAN OF LEARNING RESOURCES

 

SALARY LEVEL:           MEA Administrators Unit, Level IV

           

RESPONSIBILITIES:     The NMCC Assistant Dean of Learning Resources is the head administrator for the NMCC College Library. This is an 11 Month position that is responsible for the planning and delivery of the services and functions of the College’s Library. The person in the position provides the leadership to ensure that the Library meets the following goals:

  • Supports the educational mission of the College through high quality information literacy services
  • Provides the college community with access to print and on-line collections designed to support the curriculum
  • Fosters a virtual and physical intellectual commons environment for the College community
  • Provides professional support and guidance to ensure quality information services
  • Provides education and training to students and faculty in the use of information resources and research
  • Contributes to institutional effectiveness and fosters a culture of continuous improvement

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in reference, technical services, acquisitions of both print and non-print materials, and administration.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience in academic libraries, teaching experience with instructional design and curriculum development
  • Experience with “Millennium software”, knowledge of technology trends, computers and library technology applications
  • Experience engaging in research, assisting in it and in teaching research methods
  • Administrative experience, reference experience and technical services experience
  • Experience in acquisitions of both print and online resources
  • Related course work instructional design and curriculum development including budgetary and personnel experience a plus

Building Construction Technology Instructor

SUMMARY

Northern Maine Community College seeks an instructor in Building Construction Technology.  This is a full-time instructor position which includes advising students. This position may require instructing day and evening classes.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Significant work experience in residential construction field including framing and finish work
  • Working knowledge of ICC codes
  • Understanding of building science principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience with construction documents and ability to estimate using Excel spreadsheets
  • An associate degree or demonstrated equivalent work history

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching in a community college or career technical center environment
  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Commercial / light commercial and residential construction work experience
  • Building Performance Institute certification
  • OSHA 10 in Construction Instructor certified

EMS Faculty Full Time

POSITION TITLE:         Emergency Medical Services (EMS) instructor

 

BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE:  Salary and Benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MEA Faculty Unit.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:           

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree or higher in a related field.
  • Current National Registry of EMTs Paramedic certification.
  • Current Maine EMS Paramedic license or equivalent.
  • Current Maine EMS Instructor Coordinator – Paramedic License or equivalent.
  • Adequate training and experience in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care at appropriate level including proper care and transport of patients, medical direction, and quality improvement in pre-hospital care.
  • Thorough knowledge of National EMS education standards and the ability to teach all scheduled curriculum set forth be the National EMS standards accurately and in a positive manner.
  • Ability to effectively provide instruction on assigned subject(s) as a result of academic preparation, training/experience, and perform all skills associated with course subject matter correctly, efficiently and with proficiency.
  • Current working knowledge of and experience with Maine EMS treatment protocols.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to participate in training for FISDAP program.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current certifications in and instructor credentials for American Heart Association (AHA) courses:
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Current certifications in and instructor credentials for National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) courses:
    • Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)
    • Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC)
    • Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Provide full-time instruction for EMS program with includes utilization of simulation

center, providing lab instruction, instructing didactic content utilizing multiple

modalities such as face-to-face/online (virtually) as well as performing clinical

coordination. Other faculty responsibilities include but is not limited to student advising,

curriculum development, committee work and participation in all program and

institutional assessment activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:     Provide clerical and administrative support to the Nursing and Allied Health, Emergency Medical Services and Trade & Technical departments.  Responsibilities include:  clerical duties utilizing Jenzabar EX (SIS), MS Office Suite, Excel, and other software systems.  Other responsibilities include office reception, coordinating staff appointments and meetings, tracking budget, ordering supplies and assisting in preparing and disseminating correspondence and reports.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to provide administrative and processing support to multiple academic departments; excellent communication, organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize; knowledge and ability to operate multiple Jenzabar EX and JICS computer system modules; knowledge and ability to understand and adhere to specific policies, procedures and regulations of various departments.

Diesel Hydraulics Instructor

SUMMARY

Northern Maine Community College seeks an instructor in Diesel Hydraulics. The program is ASE Master Level accredited in Medium/Heavy Duty Truck. This is a full-time instructor position which includes advising students and other responsibilities in accordance with the contract.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum of ten years of experience working in a diesel shop
  • Working knowledge of truck, agricultural and construction equipment
  • Competent in diagnostic and repair of hydraulic systems
  • Proficiency with hydrostatic and hydraulic drives, and pilot controls
  • Proficiency with electric and electronic controls and emissions
  • ASE certified in T-2 through T-8, or the ability to obtain certifications within 60 days of hire
  • Proficient with computer technology

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching in a community college or career technical center environment
  • An associate degree
  • OSHA 30 in in General Industry certified
