NMCC to Host In-Person Open House Featuring Live Demonstrations and Special Guest

October 6, 2022

Presque Isle – NMCC is thrilled to be able to host its first in-person open house on campus since 2019. On Friday, October 14, the public is invited to tour the campus and participate in demonstrations highlighting the more than 30 programs offered at the College.  Visitors can meet instructors, tour the training labs, and explore services available throughout campus.  A complimentary meal will be available at the recently renovated Reed Dining Commons for both morning and afternoon visitors.

This year’s special guest is YouTube star Scott Wadsworth, “The Essential Craftsman,” who will give three live presentations.  A master of many trades, Wadsworth will present on “the value of grit” at 10 am, 11 am, and 4 pm in the campus gymnasium; each presentation will last approximately 45 minutes and is open to the public. With high school students visiting primarily during the morning, community members are encouraged to attend the 4pm presentation if possible.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in the new NMCC Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Simulation Lab at 2 pm.  The event, which takes place during Open House, will be located in the new lab, behind the Christie Complex.  All community members are invited to attend this special ceremony.  The NMCC EMS Simulation Lab is one of the most advanced training centers in the state, drawing students to the program from throughout Maine and across the Canadian border to take advantage of the innovative equipment and learning environment.

Sarah Stackhouse, NMCC’s director of admissions and outreach says, “We’ve planned this open house to help future college students of all ages experience our campus and build excitement for the opportunities that NMCC has to offer. There is no better way to find out if NMCC is right for you than to visit our programs and speak to students and faculty.”

If you are interested in taking advantage of this open house opportunity reach out to the admissions office today to register for this event at 207-768-2785 or visit nmcc.edu.   There will be a variety of activities taking place and you can leave with some pretty sweet swag.  Hope to see you Friday, October 14, 2022, at this year’s open house.
