Welcome to NMCC and NMCC Resident Welcome Weekend!
August 28–31, 2026
We are excited to welcome our residential students to campus! Resident Welcome Weekend will help you settle into your residence hall, meet other students, explore campus and prepare for the first day of classes.
New residential students will arrive on Friday, August 28. Returning residential students will arrive on Sunday, August 30.

Friday, August 28
Residence Hall Check-in
8 to 11 a.m. | Andrews Hall
Residents will check in, receive their keys and move into the residence halls.
Lunch for Students and Supporters
11 to 11:45 a.m. | Reed Dining Commons
Orientation Check-in
11:30 a.m. to noon | Akeley Student Center
Resident New Student Orientation
Noon to 3 p.m. | Edmunds Conference Center
Residential students will participate in the New Student Orientation schedule.
Free Time
Beginning at 3 p.m.
Residents can finish unpacking, say goodbye to family members or visit the bookstore and other campus offices before they close at 4:30 p.m.
Supper
4:30 to 6 p.m. | Reed Dining Commons
Enjoy the first dinner together with the incoming class of residential students.
Residential Life Welcome Meeting
5 p.m. | Reed Dining Commons
Meet Director of Residential Life Matt Bartlett and the resident assistant team. Students will learn about residence hall expectations and opportunities, ask questions and become more familiar with living on campus.
Mass Ascension Balloon Launch
6 p.m. | Northern Maine Fairgrounds
Students will have an opportunity to watch the hot air balloons launch over the Northern Maine Fairgrounds.
Campfire, S’mores and Outdoor Games
7:30 to 9 p.m. | Snow Hall Campfire Area
Saturday, August 29
Brunch
10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Reed Dining Commons
Balloon Festival Shuttles
4 to 8 p.m.
Residents can enjoy activities at the nearby Northern Maine Fairgrounds, including food and craft vendors, music, games and balloon launches. Residential Life staff will provide shuttles to and from the event as needed.

4:30 to 6 p.m. | Reed Dining Commons
S’mores and Music
8 to 10 p.m. | Snow Hall Campfire Area
Join fellow residents for an evening social as we prepare for a successful start to the semester.
Sunday, August 30
Brunch
10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Reed Dining Commons
Northern Maine Fairgrounds Activities
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
First-year residents will have free time to prepare for the beginning of classes or participate in activities at the fairgrounds. The Northern Light Music Festival begins at 11 a.m., along with food and craft vendors. A Magic: The Gathering tournament begins at 1 p.m.
Returning Resident Check-in
Noon to 4:30 p.m.
Returning residential students will arrive and move into the residence halls during this time.
Supper
4:30 to 6 p.m. | Reed Dining Commons
Campus Tour
6 to 7 p.m.
Join the resident assistant team for a walk around campus and find the locations of your classes before the semester begins.
Ice Cream Social
8 p.m. | Reed Dining Commons
Non-dairy options will be available.
Monday, August 31
First Day of Classes
Welcome to the fall semester, Falcons! Have a great first day of classes.
Please note that the schedule is subject to change. Balloon festival activities and launches are weather dependent.
