NMCC Practical Nursing Program Celebrates Class of 2025 with Pinning Ceremony

Northern Maine Community College celebrated the accomplishments of 13 practical nursing students during a pinning ceremony held at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Presque Isle Middle School.

The ceremony marked a milestone for the graduates, symbolizing their transition from students to nursing professionals. The event opened with a processional set to “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.

Angela Buck, vice president and dean of academic and student affairs, delivered opening remarks, followed by a welcome from Andrew Gagnon, department chair of nursing and allied health.

“The pinning ceremony is a proud tradition in nursing education, and it marks an important milestone for these students,” said Gagnon. “Our Class of 2025 has demonstrated resilience, compassion and commitment to the profession. We are confident they will carry forward the values of excellence in patient care as they begin their nursing careers.”

Guest speaker Jemelie McCorison, practical nursing faculty member, addressed the class with reflections and encouragement. Class speakers Jenna Fitzpatrick, representing the Houlton cohort, and Jessica White, representing the Presque Isle cohort, shared personal messages on behalf of their peers.

Allison Folsom, practical nursing coordinator, led the awarding of pins, followed by the class reciting the Practical Nursing Pledge.   The ceremony concluded with a recessional to “Hall of Fame” by The Script.
