NMCC Open House Welcomes Prospective Students to Experience College Life

October 21, 2025

Students from across Aroostook County and beyond visited Northern Maine Community College for the 2025 Open House to learn more about the college’s programs, student life, and support services.

Northern Maine Community College welcomed more than 300 visitors to campus for its 2025 Open House on Friday, October 17, giving high school students from across Maine the chance to explore NMCC’s programs, meet faculty and current students, and experience the welcoming atmosphere that defines the college community.

The event encouraged students to see what NMCC has to offer and to picture themselves learning in an environment built for their success. Visitors toured classrooms and labs, participated in hands-on demonstrations, and explored the college’s 30-plus programs in fields ranging from healthcare and business to trades and technology.

“The goal for today was to get students here to see what our campus is all about,” said Jacqueline Martin, interim workforce development coordinator and open house organizer.

“We want students to experience our programs, meet our incredible faculty, and get a real sense of what college can be like at NMCC. It’s an invitation to come back for a deeper look and to start envisioning their own pathway here and what their future could look like.”

Martin noted that for many students, visiting a college campus can feel intimidating. Events like the NMCC Open House are designed to make that first step comfortable and inspiring.

“College can seem overwhelming at first,” Martin said. “We hold these events to show students that they belong here, they can do this, and we’ll be here to support them every step of the way.”

In addition to connecting with faculty, students had the chance to explore NMCC’s modern facilities and innovative learning spaces that reflect real-world industry environments. Faculty and staff were on hand to answer questions, lead demonstrations, and highlight the college’s commitment to personalized, hands-on education.

Guests traveled from throughout Aroostook County and beyond, with attendees representing schools from the St. John Valley to Maine’s mid-coast region and Washington County. The day showcased NMCC’s reach across the state and its ongoing dedication to helping students discover rewarding, accessible career pathways close to home.
