Falcon Welcome Weekend – August 22 – 25th

Falcon Welcome Weekend is your official start to life at NMCC! From move-in day to orientation activities, campus tours, and evening socials, this weekend is designed to help you get settled, meet new friends, and feel confident heading into your first day of classes.

Check-in times, meal details, and event highlights are all listed in the schedule below. We can’t wait to welcome you to campus!

Friday, August 22 - Move-In & Orientation for Residential Students

8:00 am – 11:00 am
Residence Hall Check-In – Andrews Hall
Students arrive on campus, check in, receive their room key, and move into their residence hall.

11:00 am – 11:45 am
Lunch for Students and Supporters – Reed Dining Commons
Enjoy a relaxed meal in the café with your family and supporters before the day’s activities begin.

11:15 am – 12:00 pm
Accepted Student Day Check-In – Akeley Student Center
All resident students should check in for orientation during this time.

12:00 – 3:00 pm
Resident New Student Orientation – Edmunds Conference Room
Students participate in orientation sessions designed to help them prepare for a successful transition to college.

3:00 pm
Free Time
Take this time to visit the bookstore or other open offices (until 4:30 PM), unpack, or say goodbye to family members.

4:30–6:00 pm
Dinner – Reed Dining Commons
First-year residents come together for their first dinner as a group in the dining hall.

5:00 pm
Welcome Meeting with the Director of Residential Life – Reed Dining Commons
Join Matt Bartlett, Director of Residential Life, to learn about campus living expectations, resources, and ways to get involved.

6:00 pm
Mass Ascension Balloon Launch – Northern Maine Fairgrounds
Watch hot-air balloons launch into the sky at this local signature event—shuttle information will be available.

7:30 – 9:00 pm
Evening Social – Snow Hall Campfire Area
Join your fellow residents for a fun night of s’mores, games, and connection by the campfire.

Saturday, August 23 - Explore Campus and the Community

Balloon Festival Shuttles – Northern Maine Fairgrounds
Shuttles will run to and from the festival where students can enjoy live music, food vendors, games, balloon launches, and more.

Evening Social: S’mores & Music – Snow Hall Campfire Area
Another great opportunity to meet fellow residents and ease into the weekend.

Explore the Northern Maine Fairgrounds
Freshmen residents have the day to relax and participate in fairground activities, including:

  • 2:30 – 4:00 pm: Meet & Greet with Balloon Pilots

12:00 – 4:30 pm
Upperclassmen Move-In

Walk the campus with the RA staff to find your classrooms and key locations.
