The Health Center is located directly across
from the Reed Dining Commons in the Aroostook apartment complex. A nurse
practitioner is available for walk-in traffic or by appointment. Scheduled
hours for the center are Monday - Friday 8am - 12 noon when the college
is in session; however, should the health center be closed due to illness,
or some other unforeseen circumstance, students should seek emergency
care at The Aroostook Medical Center. The college will not assume any
financial responsibility for any student's medical costs regardless of
whether or not the campus health center is closed during scheduled hours.
All students are required to provide immunization
certifications as required by the State of Maine. For more information,
contact the health center.
Students are welcome to stop in for pamphlets
on all kinds of medical subjects, to have questions answered or to make
appointments for examinations. Services available include: physical exams;
pap smears; breast exams; sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing and
treatment; laboratory tests; and treatment for routine health problems
such as cholesterol, mononucleosis, strep throat, pregnancy and tuberculosis.
Information and immunizations are given for measles, German measles and
tetanus/diphtheria. Birth control counseling and materials are available
at the health center, as is personal counseling. Crisis counseling with
the school's clinical psychologist must be arranged through the health
center.
The health center services are available to
NMCC students who have paid the health fee.
