Computer-Aided Drafting Technology is a two-year program that prepares
men and women with an understanding of drafting techniques as dictated
by the manufacturing and construction industries. Skills are developed
in the use of drafting tools, CAD software and hardware, and materials
used in the drafting and design process. Positive attitudes are developed
towards work, interpersonal relations and patterns of personal behavior.
Aspects of engineering drafting, residential and
commercial architectural drafting, structural steel detailing and civil
drafting are used to provide entry-level fundamentals. Students investigate
numerous construction methods and materials as well as the standards and
regulations that apply. Construction management and surveying skills strengthen
their competencies.
Graduates of the Computer-Aided Drafting Technology program will be qualified
for entry level drafting and related positions within architectural and
engineering firms, general contracting companies, manufacturing and processing
plants, surveying firms and state and federal agencies.
