POSITION TITLE: Administrative Specialist III – TRIO/ Student Support Services

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position provides administrative support to the TRIO/SSS Director and Counselor and is responsible for scheduling recurrent student meetings in accordance with grant requirements. The position manages the overall office needs and is responsible for maintaining confidential student records and databases. This position is also responsible for recording and entering data for federal and state data collection, preparing reports and correspondence, as well as coordinating walk-in and scheduled traffic for a fast-paced, student-centered TRIO/SSS office.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree in Office Administration or closely related field from an accredited institution, three years full-time professional work experience with one year in an educational office setting preferred. Preferred candidate will have an understanding of people who are first-generation college students, people who are low-income and/or people with disabilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills to include written communication via email, social media, interoffice communication, traditional letters, etc. and oral communication skills both in-person and via electronic means. This person must have the ability to work with traditional and non-traditional students from a wide variety of backgrounds and situations. Excellent customer-service skills are critical. The ability to coordinate schedules, prioritize duties and oversee a busy office are also critical. The employee must have the ability to work in a highly sensitive, fast-paced and confidential environment. Attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills are essential as well as knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, Jenzabar EX client server, and other data collection methods. Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines in also needed.

RESIDENT DIRECTOR

The NMCC Department of Residential Life is seeking applications for the position of Resident Director.  Primary duties include: Live-in position that requires non-regular hours (nights and weekends) with on call supervisory responsibilities of college resident halls, staff selection and training and student development.  Individual oversees resident hall openings and closings.  Position is on a rotating on-call duty schedule.  QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 1-2 years of college residential life supervisory experience (i.e. RA experience) is preferred.  COMPENSATION: Monetary stipend, 9 month contract, 1 bedroom apartment w/all utilities, cable, local phone included, college board plan (when college is operational) and up to 6 NMCC credit hours waived per fall/spring semester.

Mechanized Logging Operations Program Coordinator
(Anticipated Opening)
Northern Maine Community College, Eastern Maine Community College and Washington County Community College are seeking applicants for the anticipated opening of Program Coordinator for a new training program for Mechanized Logging Operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of timber harvesting technology including operation of current harvesting equipment, GPS expertise, and routine diagnostic/maintenance tools. Leadership experience with forest management techniques, safety and training experience is required. This grant-funded position will assist in the implementation of a recently established training program at the Colleges to produce professional equipment operators who will work in commercial mechanical forest operations. The successful candidate will also function as lead instructor for the course and serve as a connection between the forest industry and the Community Colleges. It is expected that this training will be offered in several locations throughout the State of Maine; occasional travel will be required of the successful candidate. Preferred qualifications beyond those outlined above include: experience in project/course planning, organization and implementation; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written documents; and superior computer skills. Adjunct Faculty Needed:

NMCC is seeking highly qualified candidates to expand its pool of adjunct faculty to augment our dedicated full-time faculty and respond to enrollment demands at both our main campus in Presque Isle and our off-campus sites in Houlton, Caribou, Van Buren and Madawaska. Successful post-secondary teaching experience and experience in online teaching a plus.  These are non-benefited positions with teaching assignments on a course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis:

English Composition, Communications, Occupational Wellness and Mathematics Instructors (NMCC, Houlton, Caribou, Madawaska)
A Master’s degree in the discipline is preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with a Master’s in any teaching field with 18 graduate hours in the discipline or a Master’s in any teaching field with at least 24 upper division and/or graduate hours in the discipline.

Business & Accounting Instructors (NMCC and Houlton)
A Master’s degree in the discipline is preferred. Occupational Safety Instructor – NMCC campus only Applicants should be qualified to teach OSHA General Industry 30 and 10 hours courses. Certification to teach OSHA Construction 30 hour course is a plus.

EMS Instructors
Maine EMS Instructor Coordinator license and current Maine EMS Paramedic license required. Out-of-hospital emergency field experience required. National registry Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) or Critical Care Emergency Medical Technician -Paramedic (CCEMT-P) certification preferred. Associate degree or matriculation in an associate program preferred.

EMS Lab Instructors
Current Maine EMS EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic license required. Three years of out-of-hospital emergency field experience at Advanced Life Support (ALS) level required. National Registry or Critical Care certifications preferred. Job duties would include lab instruction only.
